The basic approach for this proposal is to remove current physical barriers and create an environment where the quality of the design and the creation of resting spots for the neighbours take priority over an initiative for a “colder” type of square. The starting premise is that public spaces must have suitable elements for enjoyment and, at the same time, establish architectural solutions that contribute to later maintenance being simple. The proposal also uses the different topographies and importance of the two sub-spaces generated by the shape of the southern enclosure for the square to plan two spaces that are quite different. The one located to the west is laid out as more closed grounds with a particular use, whereas the larger area becomes a more open square with an even and continuous flatness. |
